Rose Bowl Game
January 2

No. 8 Utah vs. No. 11 Penn State
Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena CA.
The Rose Bowl is the oldest college post season bowl game, first played in 1902 and known as “The Granddaddy of them All. It is played on New Year’s Day unless that day falls on a Sunday, in which case it is moved to Monday the 2nd. It is played in Pasadena CA in the stadium by the same name and is preceded by a grand New Year’s Day Parade also known as The Rose Parade! It is the highest attended of all the bowl games, with annual attendance exceeding 100,000.
Traditionally the Rose Bowl hosted the Big Ten and PAC-12 conference champions, but due to its affiliation with the College Football Playoff, it now hosts the semi-final game every three years. During non-Playoff years, the Rose Bowl reverts to its traditional Pac-12/Big Ten matchup, providing that is not impacted by the playoff.
The Rose Bowl will next play host to a semi-final game on January 1st, 2024.
